Join us September 7, 2024 at Old Vermilion Trail

Supporting adaptive recreation in the Northland, the Shoot For Fun is the largest sporting clay event in Minnesota. This day of outdoor fun is an important fundraising event for Northland Adaptive Recreation adaptive sports and recreation programs that promote an active lifestyle, overall health and independence for people with disabilities.

Teams of 5 hit the trail shooting rounds of sporting clays at Old Vermilion Trail, eating some fantastic meals prepared by Dick & Katie Fichtner, food provided by Super One Foods.

Participants need to hit up the prize tent for their chance to win over $15,000 in donated merchandise.  Prizes include guns, archery items, hunting, fishing, and more!

Northland Adaptive Recreation Shoot for Fun Raises Over HALF of the Program Budget
for people like Blake Eaton.

Blake’s Story

Blake Eaton was born with a spine defect and has been a wheelchair user since birth. Despite facing that adversity, he has been skiing since he was a toddler and is now trying to pursue a spot in the US Paralympic team, thanks to Northland Adaptive Recreation.

The programs at Northland Adaptive Recreation, a program of Miller-Dwan Foundation, are more than just play.

Blake is the perfect example of how adaptive recreation has a positive impact on both your mind and body. When it comes to skiing, he says its about more than speed. “It gives me the feeling that I’m just as good, if not better, than anyone else on the hill.

And being able to do it independently…it is freeing”. Blake is currently being sponsored by the Duluth Community in hopes of earning a spot on Team USA. #TEAMEATON

Thank You to our Presenting Sponsor

As an organization, we are truly thankful to those who continue to support our work.

In 2023, Kolar Chevrolet Buick GMC continued with their Presenting Sponsorship in support of the Shoot for Fun. But that wasn’t it.

We were blown away with a $25,000 matching grant prior to the event. Because of this match, we were able to raise another $50,000 so we could purchase a program truck.

Many of you supported that match. It goes to show what a community can do to support people in need. Thank you Kolar Chevrolet Buick GMC for your continued support that impacts our programs on a daily basis!
